Ouidad Mongongo Oil Review: Multi-Use Curl Treatment.

As a woman with naturally kinky curly hair, I’ve always wanted to try Ouidad hair products. For those who don’t know, Ouidad caters exclusively to curly and wavy hair type. Browsing through my Instagram feed, I would stumble upon women who bragged about this curly haired line, so I was super excited when I was sent the  Mongongo Oil to do an honest review. Yay me!

First and foremost, the  Mongongo Oil contains no sulfates, parabens or waxes, which is a major plus. It is a multi-use curl treatment rich with vitamin E, it also contains my all time favorite, CASTOR OIL.

Castor oil :

  • Strengthens roots.
  • Carries omega-6 essential fatty acid  and ricinoleic acid- Increases scalp circulation and speed up hair growth. So there you have it! You can keep your scalp moisturized while flourishing at the same time!

It can be used 3 different ways:

  1. As a Conditioner: Pour a decent amount of oil in your palm and add a few drops of water. Massage oil into wet hair and leave in for approximately 5 minutes. Rinse and style as usual. When I did this, my hair felt soft and silky. My fingers literally glided through my hair.
  2. Leave in: You can use the oil to moisturize  your scalp and hair, both wet and dry.
  3. Finisher: I tried all three methods and honestly, they all worked amazing but I prefer using the Mongongo Oil as a finisher. My hair gets frizzy quite easily after I do a “wash and go” or even a flexi rod set. I like to use the oil to separate my curls and fight frizz. So basically, after my hair is dried, I spray a bit of the oil on my ends to give it a little shine and to keep it hydrated. Majority of the times I wear my hair in a curly bun, so when my curls start looking dry,old and lifeless , I  use a little of my Mongongo Oil to revive it. I usually don’t have to reapply the oil until two days time. This product literally stays in your hair and doesn’t dry out the minute you walk through the door.

What I love the most about the Mongongo Oil is that it doesn’t leave your hair extra oily or weighs it down, like most oils do. It is very light weight and a little goes a long way.

I’m definitely going to give this a try. Tried so many products for my natural curly hair and they either curl and dry moisturizer and leaves it so oily and crisp
